FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything people usually ask before their first lesson. Can't find your question? Book a free trial and ask your teacher, or message us.

Getting started

Starting as an adult.

Am I too old to start learning the Quran?
No. It's never too late. You can begin from the alphabet, return after years away, or build on what you already know.
What if I feel embarrassed about my reading?
Lessons are private and one to one, so there's no group listening. Your teacher corrects you patiently, at your pace, and every question is welcome.
Will my teacher be the same gender as me?
Yes. Sisters are always taught by a female teacher and brothers by a male teacher. If the match doesn't feel right, we'll find you another teacher.
Who are the teachers?
Every teacher holds an ijazah in Quran recitation, teaches in English, and has several years of teaching experience.
I'm a new Muslim. Can I start from the very beginning?
Yes. No prior knowledge is expected. We start with the Arabic letters and their sounds, then build up to reading the Quran.
What happens in the free trial?
It's a 30-minute one-to-one lesson on Zoom. Your teacher talks about your goals, listens to where you are now, gives you a first lesson, and recommends a plan. There's no payment and no obligation.
How quickly will I hear back after booking?
We'll message you on WhatsApp within 48 hours to agree a lesson time. You'll also get a confirmation email straight away.
How do I pay, and am I tied into a contract?
You only choose a plan after your free lesson. If you decide to continue, we send you a secure Stripe payment link. Plans roll monthly and you can cancel at any time.
Do I need to choose between reading, Tajweed and memorisation?
No. Every plan covers all three. Your lessons focus on whatever you need now and change as you progress.

Teachers and lessons

How lessons work.

What do I need for lessons?
A phone, tablet or laptop with Zoom and a reasonably quiet place. A mushaf is helpful but not essential; your teacher can share the page on screen.
Can I change my teacher?
Yes. If the match doesn't feel right for any reason, tell us and we'll find you another teacher of the same gender.
When are lessons held?
We agree times that fit around your work and family, including evenings and weekends. Tell us the times that suit you when you book.
Do you teach outside the UK?
Yes. Lessons are online, so you can learn from anywhere. Teachers teach in English.
Which recitation do you teach?
We teach the recitation of Ḥafṣ ʻan ʻĀṣim, the one printed in most mushafs.

Pricing and payment

Plans, payment and cancelling.

Is the trial lesson really free?
Yes. The 30-minute trial is free and you don't need to give any payment details. You decide whether to continue afterwards.
How long is each lesson?
Every lesson is 30 minutes, one to one, live on Zoom.
Which plan should I choose?
You don't need to decide before the trial. Your teacher will recommend a pace based on your level and goals, and you choose the plan that suits your week.
How do I pay?
By a secure Stripe payment link that we send you after the trial. We never see your card details.
Can I cancel or change my plan?
Yes. Plans roll monthly with no contract. You can move to a different pace or stop at any time.
Do children's lessons cost the same?
Yes. Children's lessons use the same plans and prices as adults'.

See all plans on the pricing page.

Children's lessons

For parents of children aged 7+.

What age can my child start?
We teach children aged 7 and over. Younger brothers and sisters can join once they turn 7.
Can I choose the teacher?
Yes. You choose whether your child learns with a male or female teacher, or tell us you have no preference.
Can I sit in on the lessons?
Yes. A parent or guardian is welcome to sit in or stay nearby during every lesson, and you can talk to the teacher about your child's progress.
What will my child learn?
Whatever they need next: the Arabic letters and Qaida, reading the Quran fluently, Tajweed, or memorisation. Every plan covers all of it.
What do they need for lessons?
A laptop, tablet or phone with Zoom, a quiet space, and a mushaf or Qaida book if you have one. Headphones help younger children concentrate.
How much does it cost?
The same as adults' lessons: plans from £60 a month, and the first 30-minute lesson is free.
